Catching up from the last couple months

Scott and I ran a Ragnar race at the end of August (The Great River Race) and we had a blast with some great friends in a beautiful part of the country! 195 miles, 29 hours, 12 runners, 3 legs each, 0 sleep. I was so proud of Scott because this was the first time he has run a race longer than a 5K. I committed him to the race without his permission and he very reluctantly agreed. In the end he says he was so glad he did it and even wants to do it again next year!

This picture was right before we started. I was a little nervous because I had the steepest and longest hill I had ever run looming ahead of me.

This is the type of scenery we were running past in rural Wisconsin and Minnesota. I love old barns.
Passing off the slap bracelet in the middle of the night. Not only did we run at night but each of us took turns riding a bike beside the night time runners to keep them company. The bikers were only allowed between 7 pm and 7 am.

Our van was pretty smelly by the end of the race!

Half of us crossing the finish line.
In the end and we're still smiling, but very very tired!

Savannah, Brooklyn and John flew in from Portland to visit for 2 weeks at the end of July while my sister took a class. We didn't tell the kids, so it was a BIG surprise to have their cousins to hang out with for 2 whole weeks. MOA, swimming, parks, bike rides, movies, shopping, crafts...the kids had a blast. We hope we can do it again next summer!
