When Scott and I were newly married and excited about starting a family of our own, I used to envision that days like yesterday would be the norm. After starting our family it didn't take me long to realize how naive I was. Those "nearly perfect" days are few and far between and when they come, it's always at a time when I need the reminder that being a wife and mother is what truly makes me happy. The kids still fought some and whined about cleaning rooms and there were a few time outs, so that's what the "nearly" is for.
Here are a few reasons why yesterday was such a great day:
-Scott was home!
-Scott and I went to the 7 am session at the temple. We are letting Ella do a little babysitting now. Having a babysitter in the house so great!
- We came home feeling uplifted and the kids were happy. Ella had fed them breakfast and they were happily playing a game and watching Dora.
- We all worked together to get the chores done.
- Scott and Caroline went to get haircuts. Caroline got 3 inches cut off and she was so excited! Ella went to hip hop/jazz dance class and was very excited to find out that she could do some gymnastics during her 8 counts of freestyle.
- I got to run 5 miles with a good friend
- It was warm (39 degrees!) and the kids (Scott included) had a blast playing out in the snow. We were also able to get all the ice off our driveway.
Hot Chocolate!
-Scott cleaned out the van. He could have probably fed a small country with all the food/crumbs he vacuumed out. He also found my lost sunglasses!
- Ella taught the kids some gymnastics. Ella loves to be the instructor for all sorts of activities.
- I made a decent dinner and we all sat down together to eat.
Parmesan Chicken
-The kids made brownies with Haagen D.
- We all played Sequence (hip/hop version).
- The kids went to bed and Scott and I watched a movie (Mrs. Brown).
I'll take one of those! Sounds fun, Carey.
