35 things we LOVE about Dad/Scott

It's Scott's 35th Birthday tomorrow and he is in Paris. Not too shabby of a place to turn 35, but I know he'd rather be home celebrating with the family. The kids and I are really missing him around here and we are especially sad that he won't be home for the day that he begins the "mid-thirties." So, we decided tonight that we would record 35 things we love about Dad/Scott for his b-day present. (I was not on the ball enough to hide a gift or card in his suitcase - sorry Scott).

1. He's funny (Ella)
2. He wrestles with me (Cal)
3. He scratches my back (Caroline)
4. He takes me to Target (Millie)
5. His amazing sense of humor and all our inside jokes.
6. He helps me with Algebra (Ella)
7. He cares about me and he loves me (Cal)
8. He helps me not be scared at the doctor (Caroline)
9. He reads me books and sings me songs (Millie)
10. His amazing ability to get along with anyone and make them feel special. He can carry on a meaningful conversation with anyone.
11. He does funny impersonations and accents (Ella)
12. He brings us souvenirs  (Cal)
13. He brings joy to the home (Caroline)
14. His ability to express himself in writing and speaking
15.  I love it when he reads to me at night (Ella)
16. He's the technology handyman in the house
17. I like when we have dude time (Cal)
18. We like when he takes us on daddy/daughter dates (Ella and Caroline)
19. He's great at straightening up the house
20. He's competitive when it counts
21. He's not obsessed with sports, but plays and watches enough to teach the kids and have fun
22. He makes it a priority to plan getaways for just the two of us and dreams of traveling the world together
23. Appreciates good food and has acquired a taste for fine dining - love that!

25. I love that he calls my mom "Mom" and he genuinely enjoys having her around
26. He's the best at taking over bedtime
27. He looks very handsome in a suit and tie and he has great legs :)

30. He never turns down an opportunity to serve someone
31. I know I sometimes roll my eyes, but I love that he is a constant goal-setter
32. I love the poems he writes
33. I love how he regularly shares his testimony and love of the Lord with the kids and me
34. When I want to know what's going on the in world he can always explain it to me and I love that I have to ask him the definition of big words he uses - smarty pants
35. His constant desire to improve himself, our relationship and our family

Eu Te Amo Scott!

  1. Paris has nothing on "A Bunch of Baldwins!" This is a marvelous birthday present. The only thing missing was a box of Kleenex to catch all the tears I'm crying as I read through this. I cannot wait to come home to you all tomorrow. I love you! -- Scott / Daddy
