Baldwins in Britain - Part 3 - London

We spent Sunday night through Thursday in London. Wow - what a city...so much to see and do. I feel like I barely scratched the surface. Scott had to work 2 1/2 of those days and so I got to do a little sight seeing on my own. Here are some of the highlights:

The Tower of London through the roses (Scott's artistic shot)

The Queen's residence in the Tower of London

The Tower Bridge (note: not worth the money to go up in it)

Parliament

Westminster Abbey - we got to go inside for Evensong - a 45 minute religious service with some beautiful singing - we couldn't take pics during it, but the inside was pretty amazing

Westminster Abbey - the detail is absolutely stunning!

Look kids Big Ben!

Buckingham Palace

The Guard - it did not change when I was there - too bad

Piccadilly Circus

Albert Memorial in Hyde Park

Some flowers in Hyde Park

Kensington Palace

A dog walker going into Hyde Park (pretend like the post isn't there). I think I counted 6.

My favorite street in Nottinghill

I had a lot of fun walking around this store. I know they have them in the US, but I had never been in one before.

I loved this shop on Portobello Rd. I bought some antique keys, old hooks, and some old print blocks from a printer in Edinburgh from the 1920s. I can't wait to figure out how to display them. I really wanted to buy some old door pulls too, but didn't want to break the bank.

The Hummingbird Bakery

Loved this lilac vine growing on this home - want that! This was on Ledbury street - another awesome street for cute little boutique shops and the Melt Chocolate shore.

I saw so many cute school children in their uniforms, but these took the cake! I had to use an ultra zoom so the quality is bad, but I loved the Madeline hats.

The Hyde Park Ward

The Victoria Albert Museum - loved it and loved this chandelier
Harrods Department store

A whoopie pie from Harrods - not very good

I got to meet up with my friend Melissa who just moved to London with her family. She lives in a suburb that is about a 25 min train ride Southeast of London called Sevenoaks. She met me at the train station and we walked through her charming little town to a beautiful castle that had a ton of deer roaming around it. It was a gorgeous day and we had so much fun catching up. Julia deserved a cupcake for being so good!

The deer are very friendly and let people walk right up to them. Julia has so much fun running after them.

Knoll castle - people actually still live in part of it.

On our last night in London, Scott and I went to the theater. We saw Jersey Boys with was really fun (minus the constant use of the f - bomb). The music was fabulous!

  3. Carey, my favorite were pictures of all the cute streets. I miss the European feel of the narrow alleys. You are so lucky to get to see so much of London!
