Happy Birthday to Scott!

I have to say I am really proud of myself for this one...I actually surprised Scott for his birthday! Thanks to our amazing friends, Jacey and Spencer, for keeping the kids on Friday and Saturday.  I told Scott that I would pick him up at work on Friday and take him out for a quick b-day dinner before he was supposed to go to this leadership training. I had contacted Bishop and asked if he could skip out so I could take him on a secret getaway. Bishop was all for it and gave me the green light. When I picked Scott up I told him he wasn't going to his meeting and to start driving to Stillwater. He was shocked that I had planned a real getaway.  I made reservations at this cute B&B in Stillwater called the Ann Bean Mansion and then made reservations at a restaurant nearby. We had so much fun and the B&B was probably the best we have stayed at (we have only stayed at a few). The four course breakfast was delicious and the young inn keepers were great!

On Saturday we explored a little bit of Main Street. The last time we had been there was when Scott had run across this bridge during the Ragnar last summer. We have been having quite the thaw here and the temps were in the mid to upper 30's which was soooo nice.
This kitchen store was so fun and I wanted to buy everything in it, especially all the Le Creuset pots.

We stopped at a shop that touted the best turtles in MN.  I'm not sure I would say they were the best I have ever eaten, but they were definitely the biggest. They were pretty good though and we ate this turtle all day long.

We ate lunch at this mexican restaurant called Nacho Mamas and then headed to the REI clearance sale and stocked up on some gear that we were needing and some we didn't know we needed :)

We ended the birthday celebration with a trip to the temple. We got to help clean the temple after our session was over and boy, that was the easiest cleaning I have ever done. The temple is such a peaceful place and I always leave the temple feeling great. We stopped at Panera for dinner and then to the grocery store to pick up some ingredients for Sunday dinner. It's not often we go to the grocery store together, but it usually cracks me up because Scott always has to scope out the competition of whatever product he's working on. This time we spent quite a bit of time in the granola bar isle.

On Sunday night I made Scott's favorite meal, chicken enchiladas, and our moms came over to celebrate. Scott's mom brought his favorite dessert - cheesecake. The kids made a couple banners and tried hard to be good. It really was the perfect weekend. I told Scott to lower his expectations for next year.

Happy 36 years Scott!
