Millie just said...

"Mom, when I grow up I'm going to be Sleeping Beauty and Daddy's gonna marry me."

I love those little moments of innocence that make me smile. I have not done a good job recording those moments with my other kids, but they happened. Caroline used to always tell me when she was little (3 & 4) that she wanted to marry daddy. I just think that is so cute. Millie also told me last week after I wouldn't let her watch a show on TV - "Mom, you're so mean to me and I'm not going to invite you to my birthday party!" I think now that I am a "seasoned" mom I laugh/smile more at the funny things the kids say. I'm not wrapped up so much in the craziness of taking care of a bunch of little kids anymore. It's a happy and sad feeling all at once to have kids that don't need you as much any more. Their independence gives me more time to do things like this - record funny things they say,  make better dinners, work out, go to Target by myself, etc...  I love it, but I do miss the innocence and cuteness of the little ones. I'm trying to hang on to Millie's cute innocence as long as possible, but I know it's slowly going away. Good and sad...the dilemma every mom must have, I think.

  1. Isn't it wonderful when kids adore their parents? It disappears all too soon.
