My Big Girl- sniff, sniff

We have very casually been working on potty training for the past month, but I haven't pushed it at all. Millie usually asked to sit on the potty several times a day, but never went #1 and sometimes went #2. The few times I put her in panties were short lived because I would always need to run out of the house for something (think 4 kids and activities). I usually just put her in Pull-Ups because I wasn't fully ready to deal with it. She's 2 1/2 and I figured I had a few more months to take it seriously. Then about a week and a half ago Millie just decided that she was going to be potty trained and that was that. By far the easiest child yet! It was crazy...I put her Dora panties on Monday morning and I told her not to pee on Dora and she didn't.  In the past 12 days she has had one accident and has only gone in her pull-up a few times at night. She even wore panties to nursery.  I am just so amazed out how easy it has been and it makes me wonder why? Is it because I am just way more relaxed now that I have 4 kids, is it because the she has seen all her older siblings do it or is it just her? In the end, I have to just think that it's definitely not me, but it's Millie's personality and a blessing or two as well. Potty training can bring out the worst in me and maybe the Lord knew that my family couldn't handle that right now. Whatever the case, I am so grateful it's done!!!!

Last week I also took down the crib. I wasn't planning on it, but I went into reorganize Millie and Caroline's room and I started dreaming about matching headboards. Scott and I had been talking about moving her out for a while, but I was worried about naps. Well, something came over me and I went and got the tools and just started taking it down. As I was halfway done, I started thinking of all the memories associated with this crib. My Mom and Dad bought it for us at the Babies -R-Us in Orem, UT when I was expecting Ella. I remember my Dad encouraging me to get something that would last. My Dad set it up for us in our apartment in Wymount at BYU. Then we took it to Virginia, Boston and Minnesota. It has been a great crib and I think I'll keep it for my grandchildren to use one day. I can't believe I'm saying that. Anyway, I wish I would have taken a picture before I took it down.

Millie transitioned well for the most part. We don't have a bed for her yet, so she is sleeping on the crib mattress on the floor. She is still napping too! Most nights she rolls of it on to the floor, so I'm anxious to get her bed made. Yes, I said made. We'll see about that.

Here is a picture of Millie's corner of the room. My friend, Aimee, sent me these cute paper flowers.

  1. I have my 3 yr old boy who is still in his crib and still wearing diapers. No end in sight. These transitions are necessary, but I sure am fine doing the status quo! He's probably ready to grow up, but mom's not! :)
